It accomplishes this through the use of a computer and dual-axis tracking. The Paraboloid Reflector is a curved surface shaped like half a parabola. It is often made of a reflective material, such as aluminum, that will reflect and focus sunlight onto the receiver. ### **Receiver** It is the central element in Parabolic Dish Solar Collectors, which is mounted at the focal point of the Solar Reflector and absorbs and collects solar heat from the reflector. The absorbed solar energy is then converted into heat, which can be used to generate electricity or for other purposes. Solar collectors may be composed of copper- or aluminum-based absorbers and use fluid to transfer the solar heat. ### **Supporting Structure** The support structure serves as a mounting point for the Paraboloid Reflector and Solar Receiver Tube, providing a stable base for holding components in place.  It must be strong enough to support the weight of the Solar Reflector and Receiver and any wind load that may be exerted on it. Likewise, it tracks the sunlight during the day to effectively reflect the sunlight to the receiver. ## **How It Works** Solar Parabolic Dishes work by focusing sunlight onto a central receiver, where it is absorbed and transformed into heat using a parabolic reflector. The parabolic dish has two (2) functions: either collecting or refracting solar energy. This process is facilitated by the vertex, an antenna that is often found at the center of the dish.
